Leadership Style and Philosophy
Introduction
Educational leaders have many roles to play in their schools. Some of these roles include decision making, behavior issues, parent complaints, and much more. In this essay, I will be discussing the style of a great leader and their philosophies. Explanation of Personal Values and Beliefs
I have always been the person that would say whatever came to mind without at first thinking it through. Throughout the years doing this caused me a lot of problems. I got tired of using the same approach that was not getting me anywhere in life but instead hindered me from many things. One night I lay in my bed and cried out to God for his help. He responded by saying I am here for you, just ask and I will give you the desires of your heart.” That night I asked God to help me be able to tame my tongue and not just lash out. He sent me to Proverbs 15:1 and Proverbs 23:21. What I got from each of these verses was for me to slow down and think before I reacted. Now, before any situation that arises I stop and ask God for guidance. I do
not make a move until I have clarification from God
In my opinion, a great leader should always pray and seek God for guidance before making any decision that may affect others. When leading a school before making any rational decision you have to think about everyone that will be involved. My philosophy is when God is in it nothing can go wrong. Leadership Style Aligned
Our textbook talks about three different types of leaders t
ransactional, transformational, and servant leaders
A transformational leadership style creates a vision and inspires subordinates
to strive beyond required expectations, whereas transactional leadership focuses more on extrinsic motivation for the performance of job tasks (Aarons, Transformational and 2
transactional leadership: Association with attitudes toward evidence-based practice
2006). A Servant leader emphasizes mainly on the development and welfare of individuals and the communities that they serve. The leadership style that I think aligns with my values and beliefs will fall under servant leadership. I want to see my staff and the scholars that attend my school grow. I will continuously ask God to show me ways to lead my team so that will continue to grow and succeed. Integrity and Fairness
Being fair and showing integrity is an important part of being a leader. Faculty and staff in the school system like to feel that are being valued and supported. The National Association of
Secondary School Principals’
code of ethical conduct for school leaders
states education leaders must be committed to helping every student succeed “by acting with integrity, fairness and in an ethical (
Ethical leadership in education: TIPS and resources
2021). As a leader, I will always make sure that all my students as well as my faculty and staff feel valued. I will listen to all sides
before making any major decisions. I will be respectful to all parties that may be involved. I will present myself with respect at all times, and I will never use my authority for personal gain. Plans will be put into place to ensure that each student is being reached and our showing growth academically, emotionally, physically, and mentally. Model of Effective and Inspirational Leadership
The leadership style that I have described will be both effective and inspirational because I am an encourager. I inspire my students and the people I work with on daily basis and when continue to do so as an educational leader. Inspirational leaders recognize the need to pick their moments carefully to reinforce a performance culture in a way that can also be inspiring (

How important are excellent leaders to organizations? If you were to ask the recently-retired 3M CEO George Buckley, he’d say extremely important. But he’d also say that excellent leaders don’t just pop up out of nowhere. A company has to cultivate leaders who have the skills and abilities to help it survive and thrive. And like a successful baseball team with strong performance statistics that has a player development plan in place, 3M has its own farm system. Except its farm system is designed to develop company leaders. 3M’s leadership development program is so effective that it has been one of the “Top 20 Companies for Leadership” in three of the last four years and ranks as one of the top 25 companies for grooming leadership talent according to Hay Consulting Group and Fortune magazine. What is 3M’s leadership program all about? About 10 years ago, the company’s former CEO (Jim McNerney, who is now Boeing’s CEO) and his top team spent 18 months developing a new leadership model…

Leading and managing are two very different things. Being a manager means something more than gaining authority or charge over former colleagues. With the title does come the power to affect company outcomes, but it also comes with something more: the power to shape the careers and personal growth of subordinates.
According to Steve Keating, a senior manager at the Toro Company, it is important not to assume that being made a manager automatically makes you a leader. Rather, being a manager means having the opportunity to lead. Enterprises need managers to guide processes, but the employees—the people—need a leader. Keating believes that leaders need a mindset that emphasizes people, and the leader’s job is to help the people in the organisation to be successful. According to Keating, “If you don’t care for people, you can’t lead them” (Hakim 2017 n.p.).
For someone who has been promoted over his peers, ground rules are essential. "Promotion doesn’t mean the end of friendship but it…

The path-goal theory of leadership emphasizes the importance of leaders clarifying the path to goal attainment for their followers and providing the necessary support and guidance to help them achieve those goals. According to this theory, effective leaders engage in behaviors that remove obstacles, provide incentives, and offer support to facilitate the success of their followers. These behaviors may include offering coaching and feedback, setting clear expectations, and adjusting their leadership style to fit the needs of individual followers and the demands of the situation. By actively supporting their followers in overcoming challenges and reaching their objectives, leaders can enhance motivation, satisfaction, and ultimately, performance within the organization.
Question: How can leaders effectively tailor their leadership behaviors to the specific needs and preferences of their followers, while also maintaining consistency and clarity in their approach?

Refer to section 14-1 in your textbook, "Leaders versus Managers". Often times, I hear these words used interchangeably in business environments. As discussed in this section, Leaders and Managers are two very different roles. On a personal level, this is a favorite topic of mine and in every business course I teach, I like to take an opportunity to talk about:
Leaders vs. Managers vs. Supervisors
In your own words, tell us how you define each one of these roles. Are they the same to you? Are all leaders also managers or supervisors? Are all managers and supervisors automatically leaders? Are management and supervision the same things?
