Managing & Leading in Business: Tiara’s Big Five Personality Trait Evaluation
Paul Costa and Robert McCrae developed an assessment that evaluates the big five personality traits. The five traits are: 1. Openness, 2. Conscientiousness, 3. Extraversion, 4. Agreeableness, 5. Neuroticism. This assessment is essential because it shows us the strong and weak points we might have as leaders (Soomo Learning, 2024). It is vital to balance the five traits as a leader, manager, and, or follower. Having the trait of openness means not being opposed to thinking freely about innovative ideas but also knowing when it is time to return to dependable methods. As Allen F. open-minded could mean missing a more efficient way to get tasks done, and sometimes, being stuck in old ways could be less efficient. The Big Five personality assessment results were accurate for each trait except for one. I scored 37 out of 50 on openness, meaning I "experience a good balance of abstract and realistic thoughts" (Soomo Learning, 2024, p. 3). For Conscientiousness, I scored 42 out of 50. The results in my web text suggest that I am dependable and aware of my actions and, in return, consequences, but others might view me as uptight. I have a mindset that there is a time and place
for everything at work. When on break, the breakroom is the time for catching up with others and
for small talk, but I am usually in my own zone when on the floor. Focused on the set goal, many of my co-workers often comment, Tiara, do not be so serious all the time. I scored 43 out of 50 for Extraversion, meaning I am very sociable and unafraid of public speaking. I am comfortable with public speaking. At my current job I teach classes daily as a learning ambassador. I scored a 41 out of 50 on Agreeableness. I disagree that I am gullible, but as far as being perceived as gullible, this assessment is spot on. Although I prioritize clear communication on boundaries,
