Rhoden 2 Overview of The Clemson University Foundation The Clemson University Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that is self- regulating and was chartered in 1933 that seeks to stand by the well-being and future progress of the Clemson university by continuously backing up its educational and research goals. (Board of directors, np) The foundation is looking for financial support by way of capital campaigns, planned giving, yearly donations, and fundraising plans. The foundation looks after and disburses resources effectively within a strategy that seeks to promote the use of the foundation assets. The Clemson University Foundation is fixated on ensuring core values such as clarity, truthfulness, donor emphasis, and responsibility. The foundation's essential principles are to inspire assurance in the key participants and also create a fulfilling, creative atmosphere in the greatest situation to achieve its mission. The Clemson University Foundation has three main social media accounts namely: Twitter: https://twitter.com/CUFoundation which has 3000 followers Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/CUFoundation which has 1000 followers Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CUFoundation which has 4000 likes Situational Analysis In strategic management, the term situation analysis represents a collection of tools and techniques that executives use to analyze the internal organization and external environment to better understand the capabilities of the organization's business environment and clients. (Armstrong,np). A situation analysis is a vital part of any corporate strategy and should be revised occasionally to make sure that it is up-to-date. The situation analysis includes several ways of analysis such as the SWOT analysis which will be discussed below. SWOT analysis SWOT analysis is both tactical management and strategic planning technique which is used to aid a party or an individual to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats which are associated with development planning and also corporate competition. (Armstrong,np). Using a SWOT analysis is an important factor and step in various settings, particularly if a new or different decision has to be taken or applied. Based on the data which will have been collected, the organization or entity owners can simply forestall whether their proposal is
Rhoden 3 possible or not, whether they need to make some amendments, or should abandon the plan altogether. Strengths The Clemson University Foundation has a strong brand presence and an active community that is constantly engaging with the various social media content, this is a very good avenue to pass information, especially on matters arising as a result of the foundation's progress. The Clemson University Foundation also brags about a large and Strong alumni base, which includes past students who graduated from the various programs and levels of the university including bachelor’, master's, and doctorate programs. The staff encompasses the lecturers and other non-teaching staff might be included in this category. The Foundation has also a huge following on social media accounts. This is a major strength because it now just needs to be exploited, to get more of the followers receptive and willing to engage on matters of Clemson University Foundation. Weakness The Clemson University Foundation had reduced the marketing budget from last year and this has resulted in having fewer employees to monitor the accounts. This was a huge burden because there was not anyone who was specifically dedicated to the maintenance and engagement of the social media accounts. In return, many followers who had concerns about the foundation felt a bit cold and neglected on matters arising. Opportunity The Clemson University Foundation can create more newsletter sign-ups this in return will create new leads and brand awareness. Among the uses of social media is to charm and get people receptive to certain ideals by constant association with them. Through the newsletter sign- ups, the followers might feel a bit of warmth towards contributing to the foundation’s agenda. The Clemson University Foundation has a large base of all past students who are now alumni of the institution, this is a good opportunity to engage for more donations and possible grants. By harnessing the power of social media and also considering most of these are young people, it’s a great avenue to associate more. Threats There are no major threats since the foundation does not compete with other entities.
