Unit 6 Discussion Part I Our textbook defines Organization culture as a pattern of shared norms values and behaviors that are created in order to guide attitude and behavior of all employees within an organization (Neck et al., 2019, pg. 401). A multi-faceted assessment is necessary to assess the ways in which the personalities and organizational cultures of leaders impact the success of organizations. Leaders are critical to building positive employee experiences, and they act as the most immediate example of company culture to each of your employees ( How Does Leadership Influence Organizational Culture? , n.d.). The efficacy and dynamics of an organization are affected by the leaders' personalities since these traits influence their decision-making, communication, and leadership techniques. While a leader who is meticulous and focused on detail may value stability and operational efficiency more, one who is compelling, and visionary may encourage innovation and risk-taking. Employee engagement, drive, and alignment with the organization's objectives are greatly affected by organizational culture, which is fostered by leaders' attitudes, actions, and conventions. Business success is positively affected by a culture that encourages open communication, teamwork, and a sense of purpose since these factors tend to increase employee happiness and productivity. Conversely, innovation, creativity, and general performance can be hindered by toxic cultures characterized by micromanagement, a lack of transparency, or contradictory values. Because of this, maximizing firm performance and maintaining competitive advantage requires an awareness of the dynamics among leaders' personalities and organizational culture. Part II I scored a 20 on preference of hierarchy, a 19 on preference of market, a 16 on preference of clan, and then a 15 on preference for adhocracy. I am most productive when I am working within a framework of clearly defined policies and processes. I suppose my military upbringing is to blame for this. I was in the Army for a while, and my dad was a Marine. Although I had considerable freedom to express myself due to the established hierarchy, I was nonetheless subject to strict rules and standards. Because of my openness to new ideas and knowledge, I can be a very creative person. Peer Responses : JD: I completely agree with you by gaining an advantage over the competition calls for more than just replicating tried-and-true methods found in business literature, even though doing so can produce useful insights. Every company has its own specific environment in which it works, shaped by things like corporate culture, external culture, and market trends. A long-term strategy doesn't have to be narrow or particular; it can cover more territory or cover more ground at your own pace. When it comes to managing risks, long-term plans are often crucial. With a long-term strategy, you may take your time and figure out how to minimize risks because of the length of time it takes to implement (Indeed Editorial Team, 2022a). Having the ability to innovate and adjust these strategies to meet the unique demands and obstacles of the organization is frequently more important than just matching organizational principles with strategic objectives. Organizations ought to prioritize a dynamic strategy that promotes learning, experimentation, and continual development rather than rigidly following established procedures. Also, it is critical to remember, though, that plans must be constantly reviewed and adjusted due to the ever-changing nature of the work atmosphere. To stay ahead of the competition, you need to be able to adapt to new market conditions, technological developments, and consumer tastes quickly and easily. So, in today's fast-paced business world, it is just as important for an organization to have a clearly defined strategy that is based on good business literature as it is for it to be able to adapt and innovate within its cultural framework.
