LEADERSHIP MODEL 2 Leadership and Management Models Servant leadership is a familiar concept known to many individuals throughout time. despite its tenure within the field of business, there are still some organizations who have decided to refrain implementing the servant leadership models into their organizations. This concept may be difficult to understand as it goes against the traditional perspective on leadership in the business field. A servant leader is an individual that priorities their team members/follower’s well-being in and out of the organization. Servant leadership deliver consistent support to their team to progress their learning and development. In lieu of the core prioritizes of the servant leadership model, it has established a paradoxical nature that vastly emphasizes its differences when compared to other leadership styles. Highlighting Significant Differences The collaborative atmosphere provided through servant leadership strives to achieve success for each member of the organization. In various other leadership models, the regular members or employees are expected to work in order make leadership look effective and push results, allowing them to continue up the corporate ladder. Van Dierendonck & Patterson (2010), implore the idea that a heroic, hierarchical-oriented leader that is loyal to shareholders has been replaced by the leader whose views on leadership prioritize stewardship, ethical behavior, and collaboration. One primary difference between the servant leadership model and various other models is the open foundation of collaboration between a leader and his/her team. This has been shown to increase efficiency and success as each role of the organization are working towards a common goals. This form of leadership enforces inclusion and reduces the limits of individualism when attempting to acquire success. The Paradoxical Nature of Servant Leadership
