4.1 Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Search Technology
A search engine’s main purpose is to filter the vast amount of information available on the Internet so users can easily find relevant content without having to trawl through a lot of irrelevant information. Their search results lead users to high-quality websites with high quality data and relevant information. In today's world, most users operate search engines via their cellphones due to the numerous applications and features available on their phones. Mobile technologies have fundamentally changed the landscape of search engines in the last few years.
1.)
Explain the concept of a search engine.
What is a search engine? According to Kash Godfrey (2021), “Search engines are software programs that help people find information on the internet using keywords or phrases.”
(what is a search engine?, 2020)
. Using a search engine, Internet users can find content on the World Wide Web (WWW). By entering keywords or key phrases into a search engine, users receive a list of Web content results in the form of websites, images, videos, and other online data. 2.)
How has the utilization of mobile technologies impacted search engine optimization practices?
The mobile technology market, specifically mobile apps, has taken off like a rocket. There are over 100 million downloads of top mobile apps. In essence, the mobile industry has become the second internet. You can search for services on your phone instead of using your web browser. Each application in the Google Play Store provides a unique service. There are hundreds released every day which makes it is impossible to ignore this type of traffic.
3
Mobile technologies have revolutionized the search engine landscape. For example, it has
become essential for websites to be mobile-friendly if they want to be ranked highly by Google; and this happens because Google recognizes the large amount of traffic mobile users generate every day. So basically, if you want high rankings, you cannot just run a website that runs on desktops
(Tinkuku, 2019)
.
3.)
Describe how mashups create new benefits and functionality from existing data or information.
A mashup website, or web mashup, is a combination of various sources of information that can be presented differently. By using a web application, the information is presented in a creative way or with a unique layout using information from one or more sources. People can consume information in more interesting and useful ways. If combined with one or more related sources, the information can be enhanced and taken to new levels.
Generally, mashups are made possible by Web services or APIs that allow free access. Most mashups are visual and interactive. In terms of user experience, a mashup should be richer and more interactive. In the developer's perspective, a mashup simplifies the process by requiring
less code, which results in a faster development cycle
(Jefferson, 2019)
.
In conclusion, Search engines help businesses find relevant information online. Investigating the business's competitors, finding news articles, and checking social media, as well as reading about clients and receiving advice on running a business. Most importantly, companies can use search engine optimization (SEO) to improve their websites' ranking on search engines.
It is even said that; In digital marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

The primary issue in the given case is declining sales of the numerical control business of the company Moto. The decreasing global demand for machine tools is further induced by the recession and high competition.
To resolve this issue Mr. Hans can consider doing the following things:
Conduct a thorough analysis of the market: Market research is crucial to ascertain and understand the current as well as the potential demand for numerical controls or automation tools for machines in the future. It may entail analysis of available data, finding emerging trends, patterns, etc. This will help in determining whether the allocation of a certain sum to run a numerical control business is justifiable or not.
Create a differentiation or unique value proposition: When the competition in an industry rises, differentiation is key to winning over the competition. The company will have to focus on creating a unique value…
