Marketing Plan Event/Activity: GF/HH Wednesday Date: 1. Measurable Goal/Goals Increase desirability of gluten free and heart healthy meals for students by 20% 2. Target Audience Consumer Science Students in the Pleasant Valley School 3. Assessment of Situation Students within the consumer science program at Pleasant Valley Middle will be integrating their classroom learning of special diets in a real world sense with Gluten Free/Heart Healthy Wednesday. On this day, the goal is to increase the overall desirability of a Heart healthy or Gluten free diet in an effort to educate students on the flexibility of different healthy eating habits. 4. Market Research Taste Test ; focus group of 5-10 students from the consumer science program come in and taste test the new menu option. 5. Marketing Strategies a) Product: whole grain swaps (buns, pizza crust), increase vegetables scattered throughout the meals that students already like b) Price: $50 – heart facts posters c) Place: Posters would be scattered throughout the cafeteria, fruits would be on display upon entering and leaving the lunch line with attractive displays d) Promotion/Publicity: Send out e flyer as part of the weekly newsletter, heart facts scattered on posters throughout the cafeteria 6. Budget $100 7. Timelines Beginning date: 16 Mar 2022 Evaluation date: 23 Mar 2022 8. Implementation Establish calendar with strategies and timelines. Designate who will be assigned responsibilities.
4 weeks prior to the HH/GF Day, the recipes and buying guides/purchasing guide should be reviewed and finalized. 3 weeks prior to the HH/GF Day, food should be ordered alongside creation and review of posters. 2 weeks prior to HH/GF Day, Lisa should select the group of focus students and allow to them to taste the coming meu change; posters should also be ordered. 1 week prior to HH/GF Day, begin swapping 2 days regular grain with whole grain alternatives along with new placement of fruits and either end of the lunch line. 0 Weeks; 1 day prior to HH/GF Day, mount posters and allow students to experience the new menu option. 9. Evaluation (Leave blank--Describe evaluation process in additional file per project instructions) 10. Follow-up Recommend ongoing promotion as part of the organization’s mission. Heart facts can certainly continue past the GF/HH day. Maintaining the e newsletter is an easy way to not only engage students, but also engage their parents. There could also be a branch off to other healthy dietary options like that of the Mediterranean diet or opening Wednesday entirely up to whole foods.
