Identify a problem-solving technique or method you have used in a previous situation and explain how it helped you. How might problem-solving methods be different in diverse cultures or fields of work? How can effective problem solving help you in your academic journey? My approach is inherently exploratory when it comes to problem-solving. A key component of my problem-solving toolkit is the "5 Whys technique", something I picked up from a seminar I participated in a few years ago. This methodology resonated with me as it dovetails perfectly with my innate curiosity about the root cause behind any given circumstance. To illustrate, my clothes dryer malfunctioned recently, necessitating an investigation into its non-functional state. Being a self-sufficient individual, I relish opportunities that allow me to acquire new skills while tackling challenges independently. The predicament was straightforward: the dryer had ceased operations; however, employing the '5 Why' framework guided me through several stages, enabling me to identify the crux of this matter. Why wouldn't the dryer switch on? What could be causing power supply issues? Could it not be plugged in? If so, why would someone unplug it? Could overheating due to excessive heat production have led to its disconnection? And if so, what prompted such high-heat generation—could there possibly be a blockage within the vent trap? By posing these questions sequentially, I managed to locate and rectify the core issue using this 5 Whys principle. While application modes may vary across different professional sectors—the health industry might apply it for diagnosing patient symptoms, or retail businesses could employ it for elucidating lackluster sales or service hiccups—the underlying ethos remains constant irrespective of cultural contrasts or occupational diversity: perpetually inquire "Why?" until you zero-in on trouble's epicenter. 2. Identify your learning style and explain how knowing/learning about your learning style helped support your success throughout this course. Understanding my kinesthetic/tactile learning approach has been incredibly advantageous for me in this course, promoting non-traditional thought processes, utilizing natural objects or models during study periods, and manually taking notes. Possessing a hard copy of the book also intensified my tactile engagement when contrasted with digital learning techniques. I constructed reference flashcards from various sources to facilitate my studies and task completion. 3. Identify which of the five successful habits of an SNHU student have been most helpful for you throughout this course. Explain how those habits have helped you. One of the five successful habits of an SNHU student that would be incredibly beneficial to me is adherence to the course rubric. The rubric serves as a comprehensive guide for both courses and assignments alike. It is an invaluable tool in understanding learning materials because it provides clear outlines of tasks and complementary resources to enhance comprehension and completion. Furthermore, the specificity of the requisites on the rubrics indicates what will be assessed and what elements should be integrated into your work.
4. Explain how you will stay on track in your courses and overcome interruptions that may impact your schedule. I will devise a comprehensive schedule encompassing all my courses, study periods, and additional obligations to maintain focus on my coursework and manage disruptions that could affect my timetable. Simultaneously, establishing attainable goals is essential. It's important to deconstruct broader objectives into smaller tasks that are easier to handle. A physical diary or an electronic calendar will both be helpful in monitoring due dates, examinations, and noteworthy events. I must recognize procrastination-inducing factors and tackle them head-on. Also, the continuous appraisal of my advancement allows me to adapt strategies as needed. Lifelong learning from past experiences fosters consistent enhancement of time management abilities. 5. Choose two SNHU resources (departments and resources that are part of SNHU) and two social supports (people, places, and things outside of SNHU) that will help the most with achieving your mission and goals, and that will help you prioritize your time. Also indicate why these resources and social supports are key for your success. When we are not fulfilling the set objectives, this feedback can shed light on necessary modifications to our approach. It is with them that I share these fleeting aims, which generates a feeling of responsibility on my part. My family keeps tabs on my progression, praises any accomplishments I achieve, and offers encouragement during discouragement or when faced with setbacks. My Professional Mentor Having a mentor or professional advisor outside of SNHU provides me with valuable insights, guidance, and real-world perspectives. They share their experiences, offer advice, and help me navigate challenges I may encounter. Regular meetings and communication with my mentor provide focused discussions on my goals and progress. They help me prioritize tasks, set realistic timelines, and avoid common pitfalls. Their external perspective is very instrumental in refining my objectives and strategies. 6. List your personal academic mission statement. My personal academic mission statement is: "To persistently cultivate my expertise and understanding in cybersecurity, aspire to achieve mastery in safeguarding information systems, and actively contribute to the advancement of a secure digital landscape."
