My Virtual Life (12 years 11 months)
1.
Describe any physical or behavioral signs of incipient puberty.
Rhylee showed both physical and behavioral signs of puberty. She has begun to gain weight in
her hips and is interested in the opposite gender. She has also demonstrated mood instability. She
has days when she comes home cheerful, friendly, sullen, and cranky.
2.
How would you characterize your child at this point in terms of the under-controlled,
over-controlled or resilient categories? Have there been any changes since the preschool
period and why might they have occurred?
Rhylee is still a resilient young individual. In her preschool years, she was timid; to cease this, I
started to engage Rhylee in more group activities. My partner and I also increased the
one-on-one time with her at home. She now enjoys cooperative learning with her classmates.
However, her teacher reported that she has trouble working independently. Assigning Rhylee
more tasks and letting her work out conflicts herself would solve this.
3.
Using the 7th grade report card and your own observations, summarize your child's
Rhylee received B's in English, Social Studies, and Spanish. She also has C's in Math and
Science. Rhylee's teacher suggested that she study more and receive tutoring. Rhylee's writing,
reading, and spelling skills are solid. She enjoys reading books and discussing her surrounding
environment. However, she has always struggled with math; this is because she engages in
limited activities that require limited critical thinking skills.
