LAB #4 percent error and percent difference The purpose of this experiment was to record data and analyze the results using the capstone graphic presentation. The air system is a long straight triangular beam that supports a glider placed on top, which a cushion of air that flows through small holes on the track. We used a passport motion sensor to detect the glider through a piece of cardboard mounted on top that the sensor used to measure the position of the glider. We will use the theoretical value of acceleration to calculate the accuracy of our measurements. Calculations were done using Pasco Capstone software. Our team goal was to use the concept of acceleration. Material used : air track system, motion sensor, Pasco capstone software, set of masses, balance measure. Lab set up We set the motion sensor in front of the glide and we ensure that the sensor see it. For todays lab we don’t use the entire length of the track, we only use the length of the string that was connected to the cart with the hanging mass.
Everything was ready to star with the lab. Procedure: Our group started out by making sure the sensor was in front of the glide. When everything was set up, we started by decreasing the weight that we used last lab. After that we started to pulling the length of the string that connects the cart with the hanging mass. We started to collect data on the glide going from the steady position until it reaches the end of the track. Our team repeat the measurements until we get an a smooth curve. Journal 1
