Field Experience C: Teach and Reflect
Due to technical errors and getting adequate permission for this assignment, I chose to watch a video of a teacher demonstrating teaching place values for second grade. The link for the video is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm6hwOdgOi4
From this video I noticed that the instructor introduced what ones, tens, and hundreds are. She also used a whiteboard with demonstrate place value for three-digit numbers. I liked that she introduced what ones, tens, and hundreds looked like with manipulatives. However, I would have arranged the hundred bundle differently. Looking at the bundle you are not able to see each individual stick of ten, so there is no way of knowing for sure if then ten sticks of ten are in the bundle. I also would change the use of the white board. Using a small board makes it difficult for all students in the class see what is being introduced. Instead of using a small, individual white board it would be better to use a white board or SMARTboard that is big enough for the entire class to see. I was also able to discuss this with my mentor and she agreed that using a board big enough for the entire class would be better. However, she did point that when working in
small groups, smaller individual white boards will most likely be used. I appreciated her point of view, and understood where she was coming from.

Problem Description (CCOs #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12)
A water tank of radius R = 1.8m with two outlet pipes of radius r₁ = 0.05m and r2 installed at heights h₁ = 0.13m
and h₂ = 1m, is mounted in an elevator moving up and down causing a time dependent acceleration g(t) that must be
modeled as
g(t) = go+a1 cos(2π f₁t) + b₁ sin(2π f₁t) + a2 cos(2π f₂t) + b₂ sin(2π f₂t),

You are a biomedical engineer working for a small orthopaedic firm that fabricates rectangular shaped fracture
fixation plates from titanium alloy (model = "Ti Fix-It") materials. A recent clinical report documents some problems with the plates
implanted into fractured limbs. Specifically, some plates have become permanently bent while patients are in rehab and doing partial
weight bearing activities.
Your boss asks you to review the technical report that was generated by the previous test engineer (whose job you now have!) and used to
verify the design. The brief report states the following... "Ti Fix-It plates were manufactured from Ti-6Al-4V (grade 5) and machined into
solid 150 mm long beams with a 4 mm thick and 15 mm wide cross section. Each Ti Fix-It plate was loaded in equilibrium in a 4-point bending
test (set-up configuration is provided in drawing below), with an applied load of 1000N. The maximum stress in this set-up was less than the
yield stress for the Ti-6Al-4V…

Important instruction: These questions use the last three-digit value (L3D) of individual student matrix numbers. For example, if the matrix number is CD180264 then the L3D value is 264 (since the last three digits is 264). Some data require multiplication of the L3D value, for example, 10(L3D) means 10 x L3D

There are two way to check for the material properties. The first way is to have a material certification done to confirm the exact material composition. This will take some time. The second method to confirm the material properties is to make an ASTM test sample and test for the material properties. This tensile test was completed on a test sample with an initial diameter of .501” and an initial length of 2”. The Load-Deflection data for this tensile test is below. Use this data to answer the first set of questions on the Final Exam in eLearning. A. Determine the Ultimate Tensile Strength B. Determine the 0.2% Offset Yield Strength C. Q2. What is a thermodynamic property? What is the difference between intensive and extensive

extensive properties, right?.
