LAB REPORT 8 CENTRIPETAL FORCE PHY 116 #26367 BY: REBECCA KHOURY LAB PARTNER: LAWRANCE VEKSLER INSTRUCTOR: ANSHEL GOROKHOVSKY OCTOBER 30 TH 2023
Objective: This experiment sought to determine the relationship between an object's required angular velocity. It also determined if it was able to remain in a curved route and its mass, radius, and centripetal force while it moved in a circle. Physical Principle : The physical principle of this lab is Newton’s second law of motion; we used this formula to help us determine the coefficient of force. We then also used the centripetal acceleration formula. Procedure: 1. The first part of this procedure was to verify the relationship between centripetal force and radius. 2. The second part of this procedure was to determine the relationship between centripetal force and mass 3. The last and final part was to determine the relationship between centripetal force and radians. Discussion: After this lab session, it was clear that me and my lab partner had made some errors throughout the lab session. We noticed that our data was all scattered for the first and second part of the experiment and wasn’t in a linear fit, this only meant that an error had occurred.
