How I Was Challenged by What I Learned
I kept becoming more and more dissatisfied with the medical school system and the geriatrics branch of the medical industry as I read through the learning materials. After reading the medical students in the class felt that the doctors had failed Ivan Ilyich because they were unable to correctly diagnose him, and if they had, they would have done it with compassion, tenderness, and comfort. Instead of being concerned with empathy, the pupils were more concerned with being well informed. However, Gawande discovered that he was utterly unprepared to assist patients in facing the prospect of death once he ventured out into the world (Gawande, 2017). This topic is challenging to me because this disproved my earlier belief that the most crucial parts of providing care for an elderly patient were safety and attending to their medical needs. After reading these chapters it really connected towards my mental health because I recently lost a family member due to doctors in California being really informed and formal about their patients. AMA code of medical ethics American Medical Association. (2016) also was a challenge
to me because for an extended period, the medical field has adhered to a set of ethical guidelines that were largely created with the well-being of patients in mind. A doctor should maintain the highest standards of professionalism, be truthful in all their professional dealings, and try to report doctors who exhibit moral or professional failings, or who engage in dishonesty or fraud to the proper authorities American Medical Association. (2016). After reading This would account for the numerous almshouses and poorhouses mentioned in Being Mortal (Gawande, 2017) a lot of lack medical treatment and care for the environment.

The Influence on Me as a Professional
These readings will have an impact on me as a medical practitioner because they are training me to be professional and letting me know step by step on what is coming up next. Making me try and fix the mistakes that I can easily go back and learn by given these circumstances and the highest medical schools' always raising standards, it was obvious that a precise definition of the relationship between medical professional education and the broader educational system was needed. Finding out the current information on medical education and the medical schools themselves was the first step in achieving such a clear knowledge (Flexner, 1910, p. 8).
Other Thoughts and Reflections
The course materials have made it clear to me that medical education and the medical sector are dynamic fields that shouldn't remain stagnant. These have evolved over time and must do so for patients to have the finest medical treatment possible as well as other demands to be satisfied. Medical professionals should obtain education so they can ensure that all parties receive the care they need.
Connecting the Dots
Realizing that even after a century has passed since the initial Flexner Report was depressing, the structure and methodology of medical education in the United States, leading to the closure of for-profit medical schools and the adoption of the biomedical model as the benchmark for medical education (Cooke et al., 2006). These challenges have yet to be overcome, and their impact on how many healthcare practitioners use their expertise has been significant. Alice's living environment gives her liberty, but Gawande's father's attitude stems from his preconceived assumptions about elder care. Living with children is deemed more

suitable in his home country of India since it is safer for the parent, resulting in a conflict between security and autonomy (Gawande, 2017). Many clinicians are the best approach to treat it; however, it is difficult to teach them about real-world examples of patients with a variety of diseases and how one issue impacts the next, particularly in an elderly person.
