This article will help me talk about the statistics and effects of separated parents. Divorce rates in the U.S. are increasing, especially in America. This country has become second in the world with least number of children living with biological and unseparated parents, just after Latvia. It only comes up to about 60% of all children. Research has shown symptoms that occur in children after divorces, including depressive moods. However, if separation is looked over by a mediator, it reduces the risk of such symptoms. Although separation is not healthy for children, having a mediator intervene can help the children. Also, it is highly unethical to place frequent travel demands on the children. But the children should also not spend excessive time away from any parental figure.
What 3 details from
this article are you likely to include in your final project? Be specific. Use your own words.
(3 pts)
1. I will be using the detail about children being demanded to travel frequently in order to spend time with both parents. In my case study, the kids are traveling nearly 24 times a year. This undoubtedly has an effect on the children.
2. I will also be using the detail of having children spend excessive time away from any parental figure. The children do ½ month rotations which prevents them from seeing the other parent for half a month. This also prevents the children from seeing each other at all.
3. The third detail I will be using is having a mediator present when rearranging visitation and custody schedules. A mediator can help brainstorm ideas for the schedules and help reduce arguments if either partner is unwilling to follow what is ethically right for the children.

This source mainly discusses statistics of marriage, child mental health following divorce, and child living situations. It is researched that only 45.8 percent of children reach the age of
17 before the parents’ divorce. Divorce affects mostly younger children since it frequently happens during the first 14 years of marriage, nearly 72%!
When a divorce between a couple occurs, the child is likely to lose time with each parent. For most children, it is the father that gets less time because more children tend to stay with
their mothers. However, this also means the mother gets less time, as she now has to work long hours produce her own income and keep a stable lifestyle. Anxiety and depression are also common factors of a child of divorce. The child also has a higher risk of emotional distress. Emotional and behavioral problems were twice as likely in children of divorce versus children living with married parents, 8% vs. 4%. All this may result in weakened relationships.
What 3 details from
this article are you likely to include in 1. I will include the detail of children losing time with each parent following a divorce. In my case study, each child has reduced their time with each parent by half the original amount. I will write about its effect on the children.
2. I will use the detail of statistics of divorce as an eye-opener for my audience. This will help
strengthen my argument when I write about why divorce is so harmful for children, Rev. 7/8/2022 - KI

words, what are the key findings? (8 pts) In 100-300 words (2-5 This article talks about symptoms of Down syndrome in both physical and healthful traits. Physical traits of Down syndrome are quite prominent and noticed right away. Some traits of Down syndrome include poor muscle tone, short limbs like in the neck and fingers, flattened face, slanted upward eyelids with over skin, and many other abnormalities. Some mental effects Down syndrome have on kids include slowness in learning. Kids with Down syndrome take longer to learn how to walk, sit, talk, and stand. This is all due to their poor muscle tone and the delay in their development. Some other effects include short attention span, poor judgement, impulsive behavior, and slow learning.

In your own

), summarize the main findings in your source.
This source gives an insight on divorce mediation. It talks about the benefits of mediation, issues that may be resolved via mediation, and when mediation is necessary. Benefits of mediation include children’s living arrangements, time spent with each parent, and how decisions will be made.
The source says mediation may be necessary when the divorced couple are considering joint
custody of their children. They are able to address issues that may be important in the children’s future. Another reason mediation may be necessary is when a parent is worried for their child’s well-being. Children are able to adjust easier when there is less conflict following the divorce.

2. I will also use the detail of mediation aiding those parents who are concerned for their child’s health. My case study involves a girl who has stopped speaking completely following the divorce.
3. I will use the detail of the benefits of mediation such as living arrangements and time spent with parents as these factors directly impact my case study.
