Report
Of the 6 aims established by the Institute of Medicine (IOM), I find that effective care can greatly influence value-based care. For patients to be compliant with treatment, they want to see results from the treatment they are getting. If a treatment is seen as effective, patients are more likely to continue with treatment and having that trust with the provider and their healthcare system. The second aim I recognize that influences value-based care timely. Patients having to wait for tests, appointments, or treatments causes frustration in our “on-demand” generation. Sometimes the delay of tests or treatments can cause negative health impacts. If care is given timely, patients see this as valuable. The third aim that greatly influences value-based care is patient-centered care. By providing care that meets each patients need, making them feel that their treatment plan is unique to them, and incorporating their needs, this computes to showing patients that they are receiving care specific for them reflecting as valuable.
