Hello Master Healthcare Professionals,
I apologize for my late post, I've been a little under the weather.
Program planning models are needed for development, implementation, and to ensure the success
and effectiveness of a program. The program planning model I selected is the Precede-Proceed Model
which is an organized framework aimed to reduce a given disease at a macroscopic level (Crosby, 2011).
The program that was proposed, is to help bring awareness, prevention and resources for African
American and Caribbean men in a focused population of a rural location.
The strengths noticed with this
model are aimed to reduce a given disease through planning and evaluation.
It identifies a social
assessment, matches an appropriate intervention, and requires community participation along with
evidence-based theory.
It pushes the evaluator to think “backwards” to get the desired outcomes (Hub,
2018).
Weakness of the Precede-Proceed is it not a visual tool, it doesn’t create an outline model, and its not
well defined as a Logic Model.
The Logic Model is more of a well-defined model that covers inputs,
outputs, and outcomes.
It also identifies external influencing factors such as the stakeholders involved
with the program.
This model is for a program manager who is not a trained research (USAID, 2015).
Similarities between them are they both identify the problems that need to be addressed such as
social determinants and health disparities. Difference is Logic Model works “forward” identifying all
aspects and the Precede-Proceed works “backward” to get the desired outcomes (Hub, 2018).
