Divorce In The US Taiylor Jennings Howard University
Divorce 1 When we speak upon divorce in society it is often an avoided topic of conversation because oftentimes it is too sensitive for some to open up about. Divorce has such a negative connotation because it is a reminder of probably the lowest point for some people who had life all figured at the beginning of marriage. Divorce has gotten at an all time high because of these much needed conversations. We see divorce happening everyday because of Individualism in our society, Romantic Love Fades, and stress in marriages but It is pertinent that we start having the hard conversations so that we can make them easier on ourselves. We have to understand that in society today many relationships are based upon the fact of loneliness. People are afraid to be alone and often jump into relationships to fill this void not knowing the long lasting trauma you are going to end up experiencing. The problem with not wanting to be alone is that you skip the steps of learning who you are when you have no one else to reassure you. When we think about women who don’t want to be alone and jump into relationships and then marriages too quickly. They figure out who they are within the marriage , and still never get the chance to learn themselves. This can lead to the insecurity of lacking individuality. Individualism is a social theory advocating the liberty, rights, or independent action of the individual. While marriage requires self-sacrifice for the common good you should not have to conform to society and disregard self satisfaction. When you don't become 100% sure within yourself it often leads to the disregard of your self satisfaction. When people see divorce caused by individualism in our society it is not an eye opener because it is not something easily caught by the eye. That is also the exact reason why it is so common. It is looked down upon because it doesn't necessarily have to be how they treated you or how respectful they were. This can be resulted from the eagerness to find the person you never got the chance to explore , YOU. We often rebel against society norms because it gives us a piece back of ourselves.
