Tamia Clemons Week 7 Course Project Milestone:Abortion
Point in favor of Abortion : Abortion is one of the most serious controversial issue our young ladies and women Face today in our society. It is encouraged that legalizing it will bring support and As well as peace of mind to women having unwanted pregnancies during either. unprotected sex or a case of sexual assault. They may not have the means to provide for the babies to give them the essential needs causing it to become a risk of survival of the baby. “The moment abortion continues to remain banned, the more it causes damage to women that need it most and the doctors who are ready to carry out the abortion are threatened, even though in a divergent form and to different levels” (Berer & Hoggarts, 2019). Point against Abortion : Individuals whom are pro the act of abortion is considered to be a violation of an fetus’s right to live. Many considers life to began for babies at conceptions. When a woman becomes pregnant any attempt to shorten the pregnancy is considered murder. Ethical Egoist Perspective “Ethical Egoist subscribes to the school of thought that every person must exclusively go after his or her own self-seeking “(Rachels & Rachels, 2019). further confirming the preseption of selfishness. Through eyes of an ethical egoist; no one shall speak for others, also everyone is responsible for ones self-preservation. “The argument that we do what we always wanted still holds because desire reflects the psychology of humanity” (Rachels & Rachels, 2019). Ethical egoist would also encourage the agreement for abortion. Therefore Ethical egoist would be pro-abortion considering women's concern about healthly living Therefore, there are many conflicts surrounding loyalty to not only self but
the community around you due to self-serving to get rid of the fetus. “Mind you, those who cannot access abortion safely and be poor from a minority group, eventually, turned to various means by self-medicate themselves with bad chemicals namely bleach, turpentine, strong teas, and detergent solutions quinine” (Ginsberg & Shulmans, 2021). Social Contract Ethicist In conformity with social contract theory, residents seek comfort in their community to lay out any underlying political and moral misconduct. Meaning people would always abide in a world of code of conduct, which must hold value. “Code of conduct ethicist will agree that morally complications may erupt during the abortion procedure such as bleeding, post- anesthesia problems, pain, and infection which are all considered to be minor. The major complications such as cervical laceration, hemorrhaging, becoming septic, DIC, uterine perforation, and failed abortion” (Sajadi-Ernazarova & Matinez, 2021). Many people believe that fetuses do not have rights simply because they are not fully developed. The Public believes that abortion is an act of murder which violates human rights in all aspects. In agreeance with social perspectives, abortion is illegal and a violation that affects morality in general. I feel women should be able to make the decision for themselves considering it is her body. ANA Code of Ethic Autonomy concerning abortion lies in the hands of patients to dictate the kind of treatment they may get according to education, the provided medical information, and also the given choices that are available. “ANA code of ethics provision three states the nurse advocates for, promotes, then safeguards the health, rights, and protection of the patient” (ANA, 2015). Simply put women shall be provided the freedom to make decisions for themselves about their

own body. To some it up, the principle is allowing woman to make their own decision concerning abortion. Some agree that not only familial and professional duties regarding abortion, nurses are naturally reluctant to the procedure seeing that they have families of their own and would not want something of this sort to happening to them. “Abortion remains a very serious controversial issue for many midwives and nurses declining to participate in it on the grounds of conscience while The International Confederation of Midwives’ Code of Ethics clearly support the stance” (Fleming et al., 2018)
