I explain critical thinking as a way to find solutions to problems that we did not know we had.
The greatest minds have found way to make our lives easier in ways we did not know were
possible. A critical thinker looks at a situation and says well you know what that round peg will
fir in a square hole. Critical thinking is an imperative life skill that if you are lacking it may make
your time in adulthood very difficult. Critical thinking is an active process that allows you to
process and analyze information of a situation and having a way to apply reasoning (Foundation
for Critical Thinking, 2019). Having critical thinking is something you can use to solve problems
not only in the home life but also in the professional environment. Critical thinking can push you
past your peers in your workplace. The term critical thinking seems intimidating and can be
linked to the great minds and thinkers of the world but, anyone can use critical thinking
strategies (Joyce, 2014). Critical thinking is a perishable skill that must be maintained constantly
and improved. A well cultivated critical thinker brings up issues and formulates solutions to
problems. Exercising your critical thinking skills requires discipline on your part to maintain a
sharp mind. There are many skills you can use yourself such as research and curiosity. Exercising
your critical thinking can open new doors to help further your critical thinking skills and become
better at things such as researching a problem and then problem solving. Once you see a
previously thought out situation that you worked through before it becomes second nature and
there is no waste of brain power for the task (Erstad, 2018). Developing these skills at a young
age is the reason that most successful people credit to their success today.
