One can define ethics as “the study and practice of decisions about what is good or right”
(Nancy
J. Kippenhan, 2023
, p. 18). Therefore, business ethics is the application of ethics to the unique
challenges and possibilities faced by entrepreneurs. Ethics is what guides us continuously
whenever we doubt what we should do in any given scenario.
The following verse, "He who walks purely walks securely, but he who walks in crooked ways
will be found out" (CJB, 1998, Prov. 10:9). Emphasizes how valuable doing business with
honesty and integrity and describes how Christians should conduct their business obligations,
which serves as a guide for the best ethical behavior. Dishonesty or lying is rare when one leads
an honest and truthful life. Consequently, a truthful person leads a more "secure" life. Those who
conduct themselves immorally and dishonestly will become known. Trying to keep so many lines
of fabrication apart is a losing struggle. Eventually, lies get exposed.
Another important verse is in the book of 2 Timothy: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is
useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God
may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (NIV, 2011, 2 Timothy, 16-17) This verse
also serves as a foundation for ethical business behavior. One needs to be well prepared for every
choice or any other task, a servant of God must base all decisions on the scriptures, which are the
Lord's precious word and are good to teach, correct, and lead. Also, the Bible says, "Always use
honest weights and measures, so that you may live a long life in the land that the Lord your God
is giving you."( NIV, 2011, Deuteronomy 25:15), Honesty should be employed in all decisions
that must be made in all facets and circumstances of life.
