What factors have led to your own identity formation? Has your personality
remained stable, or have you experienced change?
Music has played a huge role in my life for as long as I can remember. I felt like it was a
safe place to escape and be myself. I believe that music played a huge role in my identity
formation. Artists' songs, attitudes, and ideas may influence people who listen. There are
also more subtle ways of identifying with the picture that an artist or band puts into the
world. Through identifying with artists or bands and their work, people use music to
build, change, and keep their sense of self. There is also a mutually beneficial way to
learn from people who like the same music.
Another would be cultural identity, because of constant movement as a child due to being
a military child. I had to constantly change to fit in, and sometimes I felt like I lost myself
along the way or that I was changing to please those around me.
2.
Give examples from your own life or from what you have witnessed in someone
else's life of what would either limit or encourage personal change.
My fiancé is a perfect example of a person who has inspired me to improve myself. I
experienced domestic violence as a child. As I got older, I knew I wanted to change this,
but I had no idea how to do so. On some days, I was able to keep my composure, while
on other days I struggled.
My fiancé has been at my side the whole time, reassuring me that I can get through this
and that my life has meaning despite the tragedy that has befallen me. He modeled for me
the kind of person I'd always hoped to become. However, it escaped my notice at the
time. This motivated me to make a change in my personal identification to better reflect
who I am.

What does scripture say about identity?
You have the stability you need because of your identity in Christ. God has remained true
to himself. If we build our identity around immaterial things, it won't last long. But if we
continue to connect with God, we will conquer since we were all made in His likeness,
and he is with us. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things
have passed away; behold, new things have arrived." 2 Corinthians 5:17 states,
"Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature." The passage is speaking of an
individual, so when we accept Christ as our Savior and allow Him to rule in our lives, we
are changed completely; the old you has been replaced with the new you.

How does a view that encompasses both nature and nurture and also stability and
change inform our theology about topics such a free-will, grace, and redemption?
Birth confers biological predispositions. Nurture refers to environmental impacts on
development. A person develops skills and knowledge through nature and nurture.
Development can be stable or fluctuate over time. These developmental notions can
impact theological conceptions like grace, redemption, and free will. God gives free will
to cause certain activities. It's natural now. However, free will in real life is strongly
affected by the context in which the person has a free will for specific things and changes
appropriately. It's now nurture. Long-term free will is stable or changing. These ideas
explain God's grace and redemption. Everyone has a special grace for God and desires to
avoid sin (redemption). However, nurturing and changing human life and experiences
substantially impact these natural or God-given things. For instance, a person may seek
redemption for every poor habit and behavior, but this may vary with age, demographic
change, money, or other environmental circumstances. Nurture defines these notions.
Finally, nature/nurture and stability/change affect God's grace, redemption, and free will.
