The FIT Sheet is a tool through which writers can find, discuss, interpret, and synthesize textual evidence
as a means of using, citing and critically analyzing textual evidence.

Fact: One interesting, important, worthwhile, confusing, etc. fact states:
"No, indeed," said she, smiling; but perceiving the seriousness of his manner, she blushed deeply. "To tell you the truth it has been so often called a charm that I was simple enough to imagine it might be so."
Discuss your selection:
In this passage, Aylmer and Georgiana had just recently been married. Aylmer sat gazing at his wife with a trouble in his countenance that grew stronger until he spoke. He had finally asked her if she ever thought of removing her birthmark. This passage marks a turning point in this passage because it shows how content Georgiana was with her birthmark before later in the story when her husband's hatred of her birthmark spread to her.
Interpretation:
One interpretation of this textual evidence is: She believed her birthmark was something that was unique and not something to be ashamed of. Her husband made her second guess this belief. His asking if she ever thought of removing it made her believe she was dumb for thinking of the birthmark as a unique feature. Why?
I believe this is based on the way she responded to his question. She said how many complimented it and that she believed based on those compliments that it was a charm. She said that she was simple enough to think so which showed her second guessing the charm she believed she once had due to her husband asking about the thought of removal of the birthmark.
Tie-in: This textual evidence connects to the broader world by:
This textual evidence connects to the broader world by showing how peer pressure from loved ones can cause one to change who they are. Georgiana had grown to accept her birthmark but the thought of her
husband, who she truly loves, being disgusted with her because of her birthmark made her hate it. She was willing to risk her life because of pressure from her husband.
Discuss:
Many people even in today's world often feel the need to change who they are for others. Loved ones approval is what many seek in life. Many often change themselves physically or mentally to make their loved ones more pleased, especially their spouses.
