POLI 1010 Research Paper Assignment: 25% of Final Grade POLI 1010 Research Paper Assignment 25% of Final Grade for this Course DUE no later than 11:59PM on Sunday, April 16 Purpose Students will apply the analytical skills they have developed over the course of the semester by completing a formal, written paper based on independent research rooted in the course content. This will involve developing a solid thesis/statement of purpose in relation to the specific prompt listed below, as well as constructing a balanced paragraph structure that includes both an Introduction and Conclusion section—each of which should contain the same thesis—as well as a main body of supporting evidence for their paper’s position in the middle of the paper. Associated Learning Outcomes General Education-Social Sciences Strategic Learning Outcome (SLO) 01 : Students should be able to recognize and analyze social institutions, structures, and processes in the context of a complex and diverse global society. General Education-Social Sciences Strategic Learning Outcome (SLO) 04 : Students are able to communicate the values and processes used to formulate theories of individual and social behavior. Political Science Program Strategic Learning Outcome (SLO) 01 : Students will be able to differentiate between various Political Science research designs and construct research questions, theories, and hypotheses. Political Science Program Learning Outcome (SLO) 02 : Students will be able to distinguish between various political and economic systems and evaluate the merits of each. Tasks & Criteria for Success This will involve developing a solid thesis/statement of purpose in relation to the specific prompt listed below, as well as constructing a balanced paragraph structure that includes both an Introduction and Conclusion section—each of which should contain the same thesis—as well as a main body of supporting evidence for their paper’s position in the middle of the paper. All submissions must be in the ‘Research Paper Assignment’ dropbox by no later than 11:59PM on Sunday, April 16 . Students will produce at a 1500-word response to the prompt below—single or double- spaced in Microsoft Word Format or PDF. Students are NOT permitted to write from a ‘subjective’ first- person perspective about their own beliefs in relation to the prompt. In other words, students are NOT allowed to write from the perspective of “I”, “me”, “my”, “we”, “us”, “our”, etc. Sources Students are only allowed to use the following sources for this assignment: (1) Encyclopedia Britannica; (2) the Assigned Textbook for this Course; (3) Wikipedia. ANY quoted material must be cited, and students should keep quotations to a minimum. Put the content in your own words as much as possible.

What form of government does the country you chose have? Explain the different powers associated with different parts of the government of the country you have chosen.
