Describe the trend the intro graphic is demonstrating.
The political division between the parties has grown consistently over the 23 years. It is now an
extreme level of either liberal or conservative on the scale.

Based on the trend you described, explain 1 potential impact this may have on the United States
Government.
The United States when it comes to global issues and how they would achieve world affairs. More than
half of democrats believe the U.S. should be involved and 54% of Republicans believe they should be
worried about the inside of our country.

Define: confirmation bias, coverage bias, and concision bias.
Confirmation bias is favoring or seeking information that affirms your pre-existing beliefs, coverage bias
is the extent to which different issues are reported on and discussed, and concision bias is selectively
focusing on information, losing nuance.

Based on your definitions and reading the article, explain 1 impact this has on the operation of
American government.
These biases can lead people to hold strong false beliefs if they only know the evidence that confirms
their assumptions. These powerful influences can shift public opinions and support certain political
parties.
