Then, summarize the overall meaning and content of the reading. Write your summary below. Your summary should be at least one paragraph long. The source I will analyze is Equal Rights Amendment by Alice Paul and the Proposed Equal Rights Amendment. This article was written by Alice Paul and published by Primary Source Media in 1999, and I was able to find it with the help of a librarian. Name at least three, and briefly explain why you think each one was a contributory cause of the Boston busing crisis. The Racial Imbalance Act of 1965, the Supreme Court case of Brown v. Board of Education (1954), and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 were the three main events that played a role in the Boston busing crisis of the mid-1970s. They believed that there was racial discrimination in schools which they considered unconstitutional and wrong. This had an impact in 1965 when the Racial Imbalance Act was passed in Massachusetts, resulting from a federal investigation. The passage of theCivil Rights Act in 1964 had an important role in providing a sense of gravity and seriousnessalong with other Supreme. Court judgments that public schools demanded to push their desegregation means. Notwithstanding these low test scores, the children wereadvanced to the next grade. Another outcome was the "white flight" from South Boston. In response to having their "natural authority" taken from them, many white residents relocated to the suburbs and registered their children inprivate schools instead. As a result, public-school listing went from93,000 to 57,000, and the number of white students went from 65 percent to 28percent. The third consequence of the Boston busing crisis was the solution to use violence asthe main approach to the problem. This, unfortunately, was affecting many white mothers who were having encounters with the police, people who were only passers and became victims of the violence, and more.Module 6 Short Responses – Question
