Student name: Sophia Dillena 4.09 INTERNAL BOUNDARIES Step 1: Study the Graphic Step 2: Answer the Reflection Questions (Only submit your responses to the questions to avoid a high AI %). Make sure to write in complete sentences, with proper grammar. Your response for each question should be about 3-5 sentences minimum. 1. Which party holds an advantage with proportional districting? Why? The yellow party holds an advantage with proportional districting because they are the majority. The yellow party has 30/50 which is about 60%, while the green party has 20/50 which is 40% and is less. So if there was a
campaign/election/vote the outcome will most likely result in the yellow party’s choice, since there is more. 2. Explain the likely election outcome in the gerrymandered map. For the gerrymandered map the election outcome will most likely be in the green party's favor. This is because the green party now has the majority of votes, now that the gerrymandering has increased the green’s part of the districts. 3. Assume the role of either a Green or Yellow party chairperson. State your arguments for or against gerrymandering in your state. I believe the role of a Green party chairperson would argue for gerrymandering in the state because it gives that party an advantage in elections or campaigns since gerrymandering gives majority to the green party. On the other hand a yellow party chairperson would argue against gerrymandering since proportional districting is in their party’s favor.
