Introduction The fentanyl epidemic is a devastating public health crisis causing misuse and abuse of opioids, mostly involving fentanyl. Fentanyl is up to 100 times more potent than morphine and is often mixed with other drugs, causing many overdose deaths, due to many not knowing what they are taking actually has fentanyl in it. This crisis means a lot to me as my uncle is over 20 years clean from very hard drugs and alcohol. Just hearing the stories of his struggles earlier in life does not sound like anything anyone should go through.
H.R.467 - HALT Fentanyl Act The HALT Fentanyl Act would automatically put any fentanyl related substance in schedule 1 under the controlled substance act permantly. Introduced in the 118 th congress The original sponsor was Morgan Griffifth, with currently 52 co- sponsors and 2 being from Michigan, John Moolenaar, and Tim Walberg The bill was referred to House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, House judiciary, and Senate Judiciary The Bill is pending in the Senate Judiciary Committee
