Where Covid and Careers Collide After reading the articles from this week, describe one workplace phenomenon/issue/practice that you believe has been or will be permanently changed by Covid. Explain how the practice has changed comparing BEFORE and AFTER/during Covid. As Saciv (2020) has said it best, Covid-19 has forced the world to adapt and become innovative in how we work and live. More especially, COVID-19 has tremendously impacted the workforce, as many were forced to close down, and mass adoption of telecommuting has become an important aspect of everyday work life. For example, meetings are now via Zoom or other online platforms. Compared to the usual face-to-face meeting being held weekly, if not daily. One of the most notable changes is the fast pace of digital adoption and adaptability. I believe this practice will be a permanent change that will remain in practice. As we no longer have to travel to the meeting destination, more employees can attend and participate in the meetings remotely. Referring back to Wang & Wanberg (2017), the article talks about the career research that took place for over 100 years, and still, many more areas of research need to understand career management. Yet, the duration of the Covid-19 impact made the world to quickly adapt to new career changes. It all goes to show how much we, as humans, can adapt to changes rapidly and become resilient.
