Andrea Rodriguez Fun of Div Learn 18 Jan 2022 Task 2 . Write a reflection of your simulated classroom experience by addressing the following: 1. Discuss how using the visual support accommodation might have helped the student with an exceptionality (dyslexia) learn the mathematical terms. Using the visual support accommodations helped my student, Emily, better understand what a right and obtuse angle were. I demonstrated the angles while using my hands to create what a right and obtuse angle look like. I also pointed out right angles and obtuse angles that were in our classroom to give further visual supports to Emily and the rest of my students. This visual support accommodation helped my student with dyslexia as she was able to learn about these angles by seeing what they looked like, rather than reading about them on an assigned sheet. This technique allowed for smoother absorption of the material since the student did not have to read independently and possibly become confused about the angles. Emily now has the ability to remember to use her hands when questioning what type of angle she is looking at on paperwork or when identifying one in our classroom. 2. Discuss one thing that happened while you were teaching that you might do differently in your future classroom. I was extremely nervous during my simulation, as it was my first ever teaching and simulation experience. Once a student pointed out there was a printer behind me, I knew and realized that I was speaking in real time with these students and wanted to make sure to do everything right. Since I was nervous, my brain went blank multiple times for words and explanations. I also did realize towards the end that I did have a student who wasn’t as interested in the lesson as the others were, so I wanted to make sure he was also participating. One thing I would do differently in my future classroom is to make sure that all my students are participating and involved in our lesson by observing each student carefully and make sure that they are all understanding and retaining the lesson plan. I could include visual accommodations that would catch the attention of all my students, as this would help keep all my students interested and engaging in our group lesson (Teacher).
