Report
1 Milestone Three Draft of Conclusions, Recommendations, and Reflection Conclusions Arthur's, a 12- year-old boy, results show that he is overactive, and hyperactivity leads his teachers and his parents to make a referral. But being able to control his impulses. Also, the amount of time Arthur takes away from the class because he is distracting the other students. He also mentioned that he knows how to do the math problems, they just take a lot of time which shows a lack of focus. The results from WJ-IV writing and math scores suggest that his development is on track and as well falling within range in his academics. He exhibited an average to above-average reading capacity for his age group. Nonetheless, he does fall below the average range when tested the cognitive ability. When it came to comprehension, vocabulary, and similarities he fell in the average range, on the other hand, he fell below range in his listening skills. Arthur has some trouble staying concentrated, organized, and finishing his homework with all this information and the facts that he was told to draw a specific image and decided to draw a car instead leads me to report that Arthur diagnosis of ADHD. ADHD is also known as Attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder is most common in young children like him but also inattention (not being able to keep focus), hyperactivity, and impulsivity (American Psychiatric Association, 2021). Furthermore, he fidgets all, he gets distracted very easily, trouble staying organized, and he lacks attention he pays to in school. He is around the age this disorder appears and also, he is showing all the symptoms. There is no specific cause for this disorder there are some contributors. Such as being born prematurely, brain injury and the mother smoking, using alcohol, or having extreme stress during pregnancy (American Psychiatric Association, 2021) Recommendation
2 Milestone Three Draft of Conclusions, Recommendations, and Reflection Based on the observations for his teacher and his parents and the test of the WISC-IV, WIAT- II, and KTEA-II I do believe that I have enough information to make a recommendation for him to get treatment and other interventions from a professional. For treatment, I would recommend therapy, medication, and having his parents involved in his treatment plan. His treatment plan is based on the following and American Psychiatric Association, which including educating his parents and teachers on what ADHD diagnosis can help his learning experience. Getting Arthur on medication and then get him into therapy to help him control his behavior and what he can do if he has any sudden urges (American Psychiatric Association, 2021). Since he is a child a lot of his life is organized by his parents so they would be asked to make a clear schedule and routines for Arthur. Also, keep their child supervised and good communication with their school. Reflection Upon reflection of Arthur’s psychological report, the teacher and the parent’s observation of Arthurs's behavior stand out. His sudden change in behavior stands out because they can be taken for the usual behavior of a pre-teen but because of his parents and teacher caring for him then his behavior would go unnoticed. In the parent’s observation, you begin to see that it is a gradual change in his behavior and not all of sudden which is the ideal age for ADHD to appear and it is more common in boys than girls (American Psychiatric Association, 2021). Having the father complete a BASC-ll and the parent checklist would have been useful to get a different perspective on Arthur’s home life. I have gathered that nothing is what it seems, and everything should be looked at twice and questioned. I also learned that too many tests are sometimes too much. I would of like to get more information for Arthur himself. Either recordings or homework samples to get a look inside what is going on in his mind.
