Alyssa Johnson Learning Styles and Effective Study Habits November 5, 2013 Describe the major characteristics of your preferred learning style? When I am sitting here doing my school work on the computer I always have headphones in listening to music to keep me from being distracted by the things around me. Making a playlist that has music that I like listening to is very helpful because that way I do not stop what I am doing to change the song. I also feel that it is always better to eat before you start studding or doing school work, brain food is what my eighth grade teacher called it. With other things, it depends on what it is. Some things I prefer to learn with a more hands-on learning style. List at least three study strategies and techniques you have or will use during this course to increase your effectiveness? I would have to say that my number one study strategy is to listen to my music while studying my school work. One other thing that I do that actually helps me personally is to read aloud the interesting information to others around me. When I am reading my chapters I will stop and tell the people at home with me the more interesting parts of the information. Lastly, applying the information to my everyday life helps quite a bit! What is the link between your learning style and effective study? I would have to say that the Effective Learning Assessment was very accurate because the things that it mentioned that are best for me to do, are the things that I actually do when studying! The Effective Learning Study Assessment determined that the way that I do my studying and school work is the best way for me to do those things. They are linked in almost every single way actually! This is a very good thing!
