Topic Selection I chose the case scenario of Aileen Wuornos. I chose this case and this topic because Aileen has always been fascinating to me. I also feel that she had a lot going on in her life to fuel her criminal activity. Crime Type The type of crime presented in my chosen case scenario is serial murder. Aileen was convicted of murdering 6 men. There are other crimes present in this scenario as well. Aileen committed the offense of theft, forgery, armed robbery, assault, and prostitution. Aileen’s father was a convicted child molester, and Aileen claims that she gave birth to her brother’s child along with sexual abuse from her grandpa. So, there is also claims of incest and sexual assault. Motivational Factors Aileen Wuornos was equipped with many motivational factors that fueled her criminal activity. Her father was a convicted child molester, who ended up committing suicide in prison, and her mother abandoned her and her brother, so they ended up being raised by her grandparents. Her grandfather was very abusive towards her brother and herself and her grandmother was an alcoholic. So, her home life didn’t equip her or teach her how to function in society or acceptable ways to live. Even after marrying a wealthy man, her volatile tendencies resulted in a bar fight, which then in turn ended her marriage. Aileen didn’t know anything about managing money either, so when she received the $10,000 life insurance when her brother died,
