WHY GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS?? • I like to gamble, in moderation. • Insight on group therapy. • Insight on the addiction and recovery of a compulsive gambler. • A chance to observe therapeutic communication in an informal group setting.
MY EXPERIENCE • Approximately 15-20 members present. • Very welcoming and open to a student observing the meeting. • Began with the steps and acknowledgment of the addiction. • Followed by “giving therapy” and group discussion. • Appeared to be a close knit group, many long term members. • Very calm, open, friendly, and supportive.
