Report
Describe two potential risks of Juan and Elena Hernandez’s disciplinary style on the psychological development of their children. Both boys' psychological development may be impacted in this era. This week's interactive assignment revealed that Juan Jr. "expressed his fears of being evicted and the lights being turned off because his father often talked of not having money for bills," according to the ACS social worker (Walden, 2021). Without realizing it, the Hernandez parents were perpetuating their parents' cycle of financial security and family values. Similarly, the physical punishment cycle may persist or worsen. Albert Bandura's Social Learning Theory emphasizes the relevance of modeling or learning behavior by witnessing another person acting in it (Zastrow et al., 2018). Juan Jr. and Alberto will engage in aggressive conduct without appropriate intervention when presented with stress or people who "do not want to listen." The degree of punishment differs between the two boys, which may impact the family's sibling subsystem, leading to resentment from Juan Jr., who perceives his younger brother receives a "lesser" punishment. Despite their reluctance, the Hernandez family was lucky to receive this intervention. They are on the right track by collaborating with children's services to keep their children and build meaningful connections with them. Identify one theoretical perspective (e.g., Piaget or Erikson) that can be used to explain the children’s developmental stage. How does this theory apply to the Hernandez children and to the potential impact of the parents’ disciplinary style? Using Piaget's Theory of Cognitive Development, I argue that Juan Jr is shifting from the preoperational thought phase to the time of concrete operations, whereas Alberto remains in the preoperational thought period. Both phases entail the growth of logical thinking, notably during the period of concrete operations, when toddlers are considered to begin to think from perspectives other than their own (Zastrow et al., 2018). Parents need to think about how disciplinary actions affect their children's self-esteem. Children will never stop attempting to get their parents' approval, which will only cause them internal pain and a sense of unlove. To begin learning the fundamentals of child care, consider enrolling in
parenting programs. Parents should get a psychiatric examination with a therapist in addition to the parenting programs. By doing this, the parents will be able to deal with some of the trauma from their early years that could have affected how they raise their children. Through the treatment above plan, parents may better themselves and create more effective disciplinary strategies that will lessen the detrimental effects on the psychological development of their kids. Greetings Jessica, I pray all is well! Our parenting style impacts our children for the rest of their lives. My life has been significantly affected by the punishment I received. As a mom, I know how I interact with and treat my children. As a parent, I've discovered that doing at-home exercises like push-ups, wall sits, and six inches works better for correcting my kids. How I exercise with the kids shows them that I'm a leader and don't tell them to do things that I wouldn't do, which is how I differ from the Hernandez family. My kids now appreciate me for this, even if they often make fun of the remedial action. All in all, parents should reconsider using physical punishment instead of another kind of discipline.
