Annotated Bibliography: Increasing Student Engagement and Involvement In A Learning Environment Tasha M. Robinson Arkansas State University ELCI 6523 Secondary School Curriculum November 5, 2023
My level of expertise in the field of education has spanned for over a decade and even now, I still struggle with getting students involved in wanting to truly learn about history and all that it encompasses. I have tried a myriad of different things to engage my students on various levels to get them interested, but most of all, I want them to have an overall love for history. I have consulted with many professional educators and other teachers from other areas to find different ideas on how I can better serve my students. It has truly been a struggle trying to get them involved retrospectively to understand that it is necessary to know where they come from and how things will continue to go as time passes. I have been tasked with finding ways to gain more knowledge and information on how to keep students motivated to become more effective and involved in their level of education. Because I teach a tested area subject, US History, it is important to me that they receive every opportunity to ensure they are getting the right tools to assist them in their endeavors. I want to make sure that I am effectively equipped to carry on the process so that my students can graduate and not have to constantly re-test which can hinder them from moving forward. The research that I decided to conduct for my final curriculum project has proven that it takes a great deal of resources to understand the full realm of education and how to reach students. I am very passionate about teaching so I want to put my full focus and attention on finding information that will help my students. During my research, I have found that there are so many teachers who are also challenged with reaching their students and can not seem to find a way that has been beneficial to most. Throughout my efforts, I am willing to explore all areas to ensure that I am making the necessary steps to increase student engagement and involvement in a learning environment. Education is the key to reaching all students of every level and I want to be the beacon to keep them interested, but most importantly engaged.
