1 Administer a Couple Assessment Angel Boyce Department of Psychology – Northcentral University MFT 5103: Systemic Evaluation and Case Management Dr. Byron Coley December 25, 2023
2 Clinical Assessment Report Assessment Administered: RDAS Administered by: Angel Boyce Report Written by: Angel Boyce Results: RW: 53; CW: 47; Total Score: 100 Rationale for Assessment: The couple exhibited disagreement and tension. This assessment measures the degree of agreement, contentment, and unity within the dyad. Background Information: RW, a septuagenarian African American man, is married to CW, a septuagenarian African American woman. Over the previous year, they have been struggling with marital discord. RW has developed a sporadic inclination for consuming alcoholic beverages. Consequently, he has been involved in several minor single-car accidents, resulting in damage to their sole vehicle in each occurrence. CW is apprehensive about her husband and wishes for him to cease his habit of using alcohol. Despite CW's generally calm demeanor, she has indeed questioned RW about the persistent automobile damage and his intermittent drinking. She explicitly told him that if he did not cease his behavior, she would choose to end their relationship, despite her deep affection for him. RW contends that his consumption of alcohol is minimal, perhaps limited to a single serving, and asserts that the harm inflicted upon the vehicle is insignificant and can be remedied by routine upkeep. This has resulted in psychological strain and has engendered discord within their partnership. RW believes that quitting is unnecessary and perceives CW's reaction as exaggerated. They have expressed their affection for one another and confirmed that they allocate time to one another. CW simply desires her husband to heed her instructions to abstain from using alcohol. Due to the presence of tension and stress in their marriage, they are seeking advice for marital therapy. Observations: During this initial evaluation, the couple willingly agreed to undergo the test. RW was predominantly reticent. Both individuals promptly respond to the assessment. When questioned about his understanding of the questions, RW confidently stated that he did not doubt his responses. Discussion of Results: According to the scores, RW obtained a score of 53, while CW obtained a score of 47, Client #: RC02 Name: RW & CW Birth date: 8/06/44 & 6/27/48 Age: 79-75 Date of Assessment : 12/17/23 Date of Report: 12/20/23
3 resulting in a combined score of 100. Assessing the levels at which both individuals achieved a score of 11 in cohesiveness. This score indicates that they have a moderate to high level of connectivity. The change occurs in the degrees of satisfaction. RW achieved a score of 18, however, CW's score was closer to the threshold of 14 with a score of 16. This discrepancy may be attributed to her discontentment with their relationship, namely RW's alcohol consumption and small vehicular incidents. The overall score indicates that, despite some dissatisfaction, there is a higher degree of relationship satisfaction within the range of 69 points. However, it also reveals a moderate amount of distress. Clinical Implications and Recommendations: The results suggest that the dyadic scores are equivalent in terms of coherence and consensus. They exhibit a significant degree of interconnectedness and a certain level of contentment. The relationship between RW and CW is experiencing a significant level of distress, which is apparent due to RW's alcohol consumption and involvement in car accidents, as well as CW's low score of 47 on a certain measure. Marital satisfaction is strong, as shown by their overall score of 100. However, they should pursue therapy to address the strain in their relationship and to assist in addressing RW's alcohol use in treatment. 4 Date of Report: 12/20/23 Assessment Administered: KMSS Administered by: Angel Boyce Report Written by: Angel Boyce Results: RW: 16; CW: 18; Total Score: 34 Rationale for Assessment: Despite their distress, RW and CW were requested to complete the KMSS to assess their degree of satisfaction in their relationship, marriage, and with each other. Background Information: RW, a septuagenarian African American man, is married to CW, a septuagenarian African American woman. Over the previous year, they have been struggling with marital discord. RW has developed a sporadic inclination for consuming alcoholic beverages. Due to the presence of tension and stress in their marriage, they are seeking advice for marital therapy. Observations: Even though this exam comprises three questions RW took his time with the questions, but CW finished them swiftly. Discussion of Results: RW's score of 16, the cutoff point score, indicates that he is experiencing marital distress. CW revealed a higher score of 18 indicating that she is very content with her marriage. Even though their RW score was below the cutoff point, their overall score of 34 shows that the couple is non-stressed.
