Social cognition is the way we think about others, how we gain an understanding of others, their feelings, emotions, thoughts, intentions and how they behave.
Social Cognition Stage 0: Undifferentiated perspective (3 to 6 years old): At this age, children cannot clearly distinguish their own understanding of a social situation and someone else's point of view. Stage 1: Social-informational perspective (6 to 8 years old): At this age, children start to gain knowledge that other people can have different perspectives though they may not understand the logic behind their perspectives. Self-reflective perspective (8 to 10years old): This is the pre- adolescents stage, at this age they can take in the different perspectives of others. Preteens can understand and tell the difference between their perspectives and others, they then can reflect on their feelings and actions to understand why they behaved that way. Stage 2:
Helplessness: Learned helplessness is typically learned at a young age, it happens when an individual is continuously faced with negative, uncontrolled situation that then blinds their judgment that they could do something to change the outcome of their situation. No matter the age, sometimes people can feel as if they have no control over certain situations, this then causes them to have a sense of helpless behavior.
