This is an older article as it was published in 1975 so it is not current. f. This article is valid for my research because it was written by Rotter and discusses his theory. Even though the article is not current, it is relevant. g. Rotter discusses using college students in his research. h. Yes, I plan to use this resource in my final project. While not current, it is relevant as it was written by my chosen psychologist. II. Final Project Theory a. Guskey, T. R. (2021). c. This resource is important because it discusses how Rotter’s research can be used in the education field. It is a secondary source. d. This article is about how teacher efficacy can be improved. It discusses how locus of control can be applied to teacher efficacy and how to help teachers master this skill. e. This article is current as it was published in 2021. I believe it could be relevant to my research because it applies Rotter’s theory. f. I believe that this article is valid to my research because it is a nonfiction article that is current. It also applies Rotter’s theory to a real-world scenario. g. There are no participants in this article because it does not conduct research. It does, however, focus on teachers. h. I am not completely sure if I will utilize this article in my final project. It is relevant and current, but I will ultimately decide if it fits well into my research later. III. Final Project Theory (Due in Module Two) a. Houts, S., & Kassab, C. (1997). This resource is important because it uses Rotter’s social learning theory to attempt to explain fear of crime. It is a primary source. d. This article is about the potential differences between races and ethnicities when it comes to fear of crime. The researchers collected data through a telephone survey. The researchers wanted to examine the effects of the three constructs – locus of control, social context, and reinforcement value.
e. This article is not current as it was published in 1997. It is relevant to my research though as it discusses and applies Rotter’s theory. f. This resource is valid because it is factual and discusses my chosen theory. g. The participants in this study were a randomly selected sample of 395 white and 122 nonwhite residents, 18 years old or older, and living in a Midwestern city. Their data was collected via telephone survey. h. Yes, I plan to use this resource in my final project. I like that it uses the three concepts of Rotter’s theory and is an actual study. Yes, it is valid because it is relevant and factual. g. There were no participants in this article. h. Yes, I plan to use this resource in my final project because I think it can help me better explain Rotter and his research.
