Session 2 Reflection Paper Erica Caudill Adult Seminar Studies II Prof. Mike Voris 22 October 2023
Studying the Bible holds significance on many levels. Firstly, understanding God’s word provides insights into how we should live. God’s word is truth; studying the Bible offers spiritual guidance and is part of navigating life and its ups and downs. The study of the Bible can help one grow personally, encouraging one to form their values according to God’s word. The Bible provides a source of comfort to individuals facing life’s challenges. Secondly, how can we share God’s word if we do not know it for ourselves? We must be able to know God’s word, and to know it; we must study it. However, the Bible is sometimes difficult to interpret; this is another reason we should study. If we do not understand, we should always look to find the answer to what we are questioning or having difficulty understanding. The Bible has inspired many things, such as works in literature, art, and philosophy. The Bible contributes to an understanding of the human experience. The Bible encourages individuals to reflect on their beliefs and engage in meaningful discussions; it serves as a moral and ethical guide and shapes values and norms in society. And lastly, but most importantly, the Bible serves as a roadmap to Heaven. The Bible outlines the way to Heaven, and isn’t that everyone’s goal? There are many times when God is laying a map out to us, and we say, “No. It is
fine. I don’t need it. I know where I am going and how to get there!” We need to study the Bible so we have a clear understanding of the way we should take and the path to get there. In conclusion, the Bible is a source of inspiration and comfort for many, providing us with a spirit of joy and contentment. It should be studied with heartfelt reverence.
