Abstract Social networking sites will develop over time. There are always advantages and disadvantages, just like with anything else. Social media sites were developed to fill communication gaps between individuals. With that it comes many different threats, cyberbullying, and an easy way to release information. Definition of social psychology is the scientific study of how people's ideas, feelings, and behaviors are affected by other people's actual, inferred, or imagined presence. (Kassin et al., 2019) A prime example of the social context is social media. Social media use has increased over generation to generation. Due to the users' real connections (friends, followers, etc.) and awareness of the presence of other users, there is both an implied and actual presence of others on social media platforms. Depending on the perspective, some of these links are also true in real life, while others are purely hypothetical. (Kassin et al., 2019) Keywords: Behavioral Studies, Case Study, Mental Health, Psychology, and Social Theories
Conformity and Obedience One result of other people's beliefs, feelings, and behaviors influencing us is conformity. Obedience to authority is a different type of social influence. Obedience is the modification of one's behavior in response to a request made by a higher authority. Because they are worried about what would happen if they don't cooperate, people frequently do as ask. We review another traditional social psychology experiment to illustrate this issue. (Learning, Introduction to Psychology ) For instance, Solomon Asch's research revealed that even when an opinion was incorrect, individuals were more likely to follow it. This implies that social pressure can exert significant influence on conformity. (Mallinson & Hatemi, 2018) Following an authority figure's instructions is the act of being obedient. Several social circumstances, including as the perceived authority of the individual in charge, the gravity of the request, and the presence of other subordinates, can also have an impact on it. For instance, Stanley Milgram's research revealed that even when people thought electric shocks were genuine and potentially harmful, they were more inclined to comply with an authority figure's instructions to administer them to someone else. This implies that submission to authority can be quite powerful, despite moral objections to the demands being made. (Mallinson & Hatemi, 2018) Social Psychology Theories A comparison of theory and research in social psychology shows that while research techniques are scientific in nature, ideas of social behavior are largely reflections of recent history. The spread of psychological knowledge alters the behavioral patterns that serve as its foundation. This alteration takes place as a result of the psychological theories' tendency toward prescription, knowledge's liberating consequences, and resistance stemming from shared beliefs

in individuality and freedom. Theoretical foundations also rely heavily on acquired dispositions. Such dispositions vary as the culture does, and the premises are frequently proven false. This study leads to a number of adjustments in the focus and procedures of social psychology. (Gergen, 1973) Theories of Social Psychology Social learning theory is a hypothesis that contends that people pick up new habits by emulating and observing those around them. Social cognitive theory, however, adds to social learning theory by highlighting the part that cognitive processes like attention, memory, and expectancies play in social learning. While attribution theory examines how people rationalize the causes of their own conduct as well as that of others. The social identity theory is another hypothesis that describes how a person's self-concept is shaped by their affiliation with particular social groupings. The social exchange theory explains why people choose to start and continue partnerships. The cognitive dissonance theory, which describes how people attempt to keep their beliefs and behaviors in line, is the final theory. Case Study Until you come across a post by a 19-year-old boy while browsing a range of reading posts on your favorite social media platform. He claims that he was raped at a party last night and expresses concern that they would release images of it online. He is thinking about killing himself. You observe three different behaviors in the remarks made to him: 1. He's being insulted and using foul language by a small group of people. He is being urged to end his life by them. 2. In addition to offering the phone number for a crisis help line, a greater number of people are offering encouraging remarks.
3. Many of his online fans are still silent in response to his post. Case Analysis Bystanders Intervention Providing assistance to someone who is in need is known as bystander intervention. It might be as easy as dialing 911 or as difficult as giving first aid or performing CPR. The ability to save lives and lessen the severity of injuries makes bystander intervention crucial. There are various reasons why someone would choose not to help in an emergency. Some individuals can be reluctant to participate, while others might be clueless. Behavior Remarks In response to remarks that is being presented to the 19 year old. Providing additional services or telling encouraging quotes to the 19 year old. It is important to meet the client where they are in order to provide a better service. According to the social motivation theory, the interactions between factors in behavior, biology, and evolution are the source of human motivation. As a result of social motivation being an intrinsic aspect in human behavior, it influences how motivated people are. (Chevallier et al., 2012) In this particular case the 19 year old has small support system whereas setting and achieving goals with the aid of social motivation can lead to recognition and a sense of community belonging. This will also encourage the 19 year to rethink and allotted time to make the decision of committing suicide. Since people tend to associate with successful people, accomplishment, respect, and recognition increase a person's sense of belonging in society. As a result, successful people have many friends as opposed to individuals who are unsuccessful in some of their pursuits. It truly states that you charge your atmosphere; supports the nurture psychology term.
Case Reflection Many individuals deal with things differently. These results come from a variety of different variables. For example race and ethnicity plays a major role in how individuals handle situations. People who are going through difficult times may encounter a number of difficulties, such as stress, worry, sadness, and bereavement. Everyone experiences difficulties differently, and there is no right or wrong method to cope. This is an important thing to keep in mind. For instance, I perform a variety of human resources tasks at my present job, among them onboarding. I don't express regret when I call aspiring employees to set up job interview, but they subsequently reschedule it due to a death in the family. I simply go on to the next applicant. In my opinion, the person wants you to go on living your life since theirs is over. Give me hugs and flowers now rather than after I'm gone, in the words of my grandfather. I can relate to this scenario because my first boyfriend's friends assaulted me when I was 16 years old. Although he continues to this day to deny knowing anything about it, the truth reveals that he was well aware. Because I was worried about what other people would think or believe, I kept that story to myself for a very long time. Different actions and my mentality have evolved as an adult. Now understanding how someone else's actions may affect how you live as an adult or respond to other situations. Aftermath The social context is not the only factor influencing conformity, obedience, and helping behaviors, it is crucial to remember this. Also important are a person's unique personality features. For instance, even if they are not under social pressure, those who are more conscientious and sympathetic are more inclined to lend a helping hand. The possibility of

someone receiving assistance when they are in danger depends on a variety of variables. The number of onlookers present near an emergency can significantly reduce the likelihood that a bystander will really intervene, according to previous study. As a result of the likelihood that someone else will assist the person in need, it has been demonstrated that whenever there are more onlookers, people feel less obligated to do so.
