Response: This week's lesson really hit home. Scriptures I have grown up reading a memorizing came with a new light
as I saw them in a different way through pondering and prayer. Especially 2nd Nephi 2:25, in which sorrow and joy exist together in a balanced state. They must both exist in our lives in order to fully understand the difference between the light righteousness brings and the darkness sin brings into our lives. It gives me comfort to know that
trials and sadness that occurs happens for a reason. Just as explained it gives me knowledge that the Lord really is in the driver’s seat in helping us return to him as long as we have faith and use our agency to follow him.
Moses 6:57 - I really appreciate this scripture as it foretells the promise of a savior since the very beginning. That the fall wasn't an accident; that it was actually planned all along so God's children may become like him and inherit his glory. It helps me further understand in my life the powerful need for a savior and without him there would be no hope to repay the debt and return back home.
Alma 12:24 - This passage has always been a helped me understand what my decisions I should make as I go throughout life. Knowing that this life is a probationary state to help us prepare to meet God gives a simple but applicable roadmap for our decisions. While I am far from perfect and make mistakes often, it gives me comfort to know due to this roadmap and probationary state we can repent and be forgiven for those sins.
I am grateful for these truths and the impact it makes in my life. I couldn’t look at life the same way without the knowledge of God’s plan for us to become more like his son and return to his presence.
