Alma 5-7: Option Two
Points to Ponder
Remember your total response should be 150 to 300 words.
Answer the following questions in writing.
Even after seeing an angel, Alma still had to repent, exercise faith in Jesus Christ, and put forth great
effort to obtain his testimony. How does Alma 5:45–48 describe the process by which Alma obtained
knowledge of “the Son, the Only Begotten of the Father”?
I love Alma’s humility. He attributes the fact that the Spirit assisted in his conversion, and not the fact
that he saw an angel. I admire how he has also taken the time to get to know that the things he saw and
witnessed are indeed true. The spirit is the main teacher, and it is certainly true in Alma’s case of how
he was able to build and gain his testimony. Alma’s conviction and testimony is true and unwavering.
What similarities and differences do you see in Alma’s ministering among the people of Zarahemla and
the people of Gideon?
I see similarities that it is the most important cause and how they all sought to preach the gospel as
much as they could because they know that it is the greatest cause to work towards. I see differences in
Alma’s conversion being pretty big. He saw an angel who testified to him of the divinity and
redemption of Jesus Christ.
How has your understanding and appreciation of the Atonement deepened as you studied Alma7:11–13?
My appreciation of the Atonement of Jesus Christ has deepened because those verses have allowed me
to visually understand all that the Savior has endured. He has endured all of our pains, sicknesses,
trials, temptations and so much more. This has allowed me to develop a connection with my Savior and
has allowed me to feel grateful for all that He has done for me.
