DQ1
According to the Bible and the Christian worldview, Jesus was fully God and fully human.
Interacting with the readings, especially Philippians 2:5-11 and Hebrews 1:1-3, explain why
this teaching of Jesus' full divinity and full humanity is important to Christianity.
Class,
I believe that this teaching of Jesus’ full divinity and full humanity is important to Christianity
because it teaches Christians to be humble and to repent your sins. God holds someone that is
willing to admit their wrong doings and ask for forgiveness, higher than a person that is too
proud to admit they have sinned. Jesus was so humbled that he asked to be treated as a servant
and didn’t expect to be handed forgiveness, he wanted to work for it. Jesus was made for
mankind to learn from and to be given an example of the way that God wants mankind to act.
God wanted mankind to treat others as they would want to be treated themselves. And to not act
as if any one person is better than the other.
DQ2
Read the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) and answer the following questions:
1.
What do you believe is the main theme Jesus is communicating?
2.
Explain the three principal characters. Who do you identify with the most, and
why?
Class,
I believe that the main theme that Jesus is communicating in the parable of the Prodigal Son is
redemption. The younger son (Jesus), spent all his wealth on wild living and when he ran out he
came to his senses and asked God for redemption for his sins and humbled himself to work as a
servant, stating he isn’t worthy of being called a son of God. The three principle characters are
God, the Prodigal Son, and the good son.
I feel that I would identify most with the prodigal son. I have made decisions in the past that I
have needed redemption from. I have strayed away from what I knew was the right thing to do
and been tempted by things that I knew weren’t right. I feel now that I am in a good spot in my
life and I appreciate the forgiveness that I have been given.
