Response: A large part of my study this week was focused on the fact that we have Heavenly Parents, parents as in not just a Heavenly Father. In Doctrine and Covenants 76:1-24 it talks about how those who serve the Lord in righteousness till the end will have the hidden mysteries of His kingdom revealed to them. This is speculation, but I believe that a sure
knowledge of a Heavenly Mother is included, not that I don’t believe that I do have a Heavenly Mother, but out of respect and honor for her, I know that Heavenly Father does not make her existence completely and widely known because I cannot understand or really fathom the amount of hate and disrespect that God receives every day. People cursing his name and taking it in vain, I know that Heavenly Mother does not have to deal with that. God is there for us, as is Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Something else that I want to touch on is the fact that God could have chosen any name or title for himself, and he chose “Father”. How cool is that? In Mathew 6:9 is talks about our Father, who is in Heaven. As well as the exalted name “Elohim”, he is the parent of Jesus Christ as well as every other being who lived, lives, and will live on this earth. That makes me think of my own father, and how much I love him, and how much I know he loves me, and I think of the love Heavenly Father must have for me, so much that I cannot comprehend.
And as stated in Ether 4:7, God is the father of everything. When I think of and see all of Heavenly Father’s creations, I feel so lucky to be able to see such beautiful things that were so carefully and thoughtfully crafted and molded by Heavenly Father. And I try to remember that when I think of myself in a negative way. If Heavenly Father wants us to respect His creations and see the beauty of them, is it not my responsibility to try and see myself as God does? I know this was kind of all over the place, but I had so many thoughts and couldn’t make them all flow very well.
Word Count: 383 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World
There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again.
Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own:
abortion
abuse/bullying
addiction
depression
divorce
