1 Hale James hale Professor Gnanakan Theology 201-002 11/14/23 Biblical Metanarrative worldview paper The biblical narrative is often seen as with four major movements, those being (1) creation (2) fall (3) redemption and the (4) restoration. The movements are scattered all throughout the bible shaping its core themes and the overarching message with in. creation is one of the movements that starts in genesis waer the narrative opens with the world being created as well as humanity and everything else as bible says in genesis 1:1 “in the beginning, god created the havens and the earth.” And I like to keep in mind the verse Psalm 100:3 know that the lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people the sheep of his pasture. Basically, telling us we ate god’s creation and we belong to him. The second movements are the fall the fall is the introduction to sin and brokenness in the world. This accurses in genesis 3 when Adam and eve disobeyed god and ate the apple from the forbidden tree another verse to keep in mind is romans 5:12 “therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way, death came to all people because all sinned. It’s good to keep this in mind because it reflects on the consequences and the events that took place. A verse for people who are struggling and that have fallen should read Isaiah 41:10 “Don't you be afraid For I am with you Don't be dismayed For I am your God I will strengthen you I will help you I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH THE RIGHT HAND OF MY RIGHTEOUSNESS” is tells us that when we are saved he is with us and we shall not fear. A third movement is redemption as throughout the bible, the
2 Hale theme of redemption becomes evident with-it being gods plan to reconcile and redeem humanity it is central with in Jesus’ teaching and life in the New Testament. In john 3:16 “for god so loved the world he gave is his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Another bible veers to also skep in mind is Ephesians 1:7-8 “in whom we have our redemption through his blood the forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of his grace, wich he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence.” Basically saying we have a eternal reward with him in redemption. And Crist life and him dyeing on the cross serves as the ultimate act of redemption, offering salvation and reconciliation for those who believe in him. The fourth and final movement is restoration it is wear God will bring about the havens and the new earth this restoration god redemptive plan wear their will be no pain, suffering or sin. In revelation 21:5 “he who was seated on the thorn said, I am making everything new.” I also like this bible verse and thinks it ties in very well john 12:46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me shall live in darkness. With this if we don’t fallow or understand creation fall redemption and restoration we will live in darkness. Understanding the narrative framework of creation, fall, redemption, and the restoration and its profoundly influences perspectives on life vocation and calling can provide a lens through which we can grasp and understand the brokenness of the world making us realize the need for redemption and the hope of restoration. In my life with understanding these narratives it helps me to see the significates of my actions and the impact that they have. It also influences my calling by instilling a sense of responsibility to participate in the redemptive work with acts like love, justice, and composition for others. In vocation, it engages me to seek out roles and opportunities that may align with the values of redemption and restoration, wear I can actively
3 Hale contribute a helping hand to the world with doing this like going on missions’ trip as in verse Matthew 28:19–20 (19) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” We also shouldn’t just do these things because it makes us feel better but because we are called to it as in Mark 16:15 “and he said to them, “goo into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”” And also, with doing this in Isaiah 58:11 where God guides, he provides. He will guide us to do things like go missions and I the proses not only are we having restoration, but he is using us to provide to the nation. Works Cited Jackson, Darrell.
