Passage: Acts 2:14-24
Explanation: I selected this passage because we see the importance of the baptism of the Holy
Spirit and how it can change people completely from who they used to be. It is Peter’s first time
in public really since he was with Jesus before his crucifixion. It is a new man emboldened with
the Holy Spirit. But also what he is saying is very important, he is reiterating the prophecy of
Joel of what is finally upon the world. Peter talks about what the prophecy really meant and how
it all died to the pouring out of the Holy Spirit after Jesus’s death and resurrection.
Prayer: Lord, I pray that I will gain further understanding of what is being spoken in these verse
so I can apply them to my own life. The Holy Spirirt is still a bit of a mystery. Although my life
has been lots of ups and downs, lots of doubt. I hope that
I can instead be faithful and diligent in
my pursuit of you. I have a desire to know you more but often get overwhelmed by all
instructions and information. I pray that I can find a real relationship with you through the Holy
Spirit instead of the shallowness I am in righ now.
Passage: Acts 2:14-24
Main Points: The main point of this passage from Peter is that he speaks to the people of Israel of
what has come to pass reminding them of the procpechy of Joel and what it really means. The
Holy Spirirt has been poured and is asking them to believe in Jesus and his resurrection.
Summary: In this passage Peter is spreading the news of the gospel but also of the coming of the
Holy Spirit to the Israelites by his own words and those from the prophet Joel.
