Topic 5 DQ 2 Both Buddhism and Christianity define the concept of "self" in comparable ways. Both speak of it as an eternal entity that is also referred to as the "soul" or the "self." Christian belief is that the person is malleable and free to evolve, leading to a more mature connection with God. Understanding the world as a creation, working with others, and—most importantly—pursuing God are all necessary for the self's evolution (Wilson, 1970).
