For my directed study activity, I chose Option #1 which focuses on the sacrament. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, participating in this sacred ordinance is an important part of my faith. In this article, I will share my thoughts on the covenant obligation we make when partaking of the sacrament, how remembering the Savior helps us become more like Him, and my personal experience with the sacrament. According to 3 Nephi 18:1-13, the covenant obligation we make when we participate in the ordinance of the sacrament is to always remember the Savior and keep His commandments. This covenant is symbolized by the bread and water, representing the body and blood of Jesus Christ, which we partake of in remembrance of His sacrifice for us. By making this covenant, we promise to continually strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ and keep His teachings in our hearts and minds. As we remember the Savior through partaking of the sacrament, it helps us to become more like Him. The sacrament is a time for reflection and repentance. It allows us to reflect on the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the love He has for us. This helps us to see our weaknesses and mistakes, and motivates us to make changes in our lives to become more like Him. By keeping this promise to remember the Savior, we are constantly reminded of His love, mercy, and grace, and this can transform us to become better disciples of Christ. One of the most meaningful experiences I have had with the sacrament was during a particularly difficult time in my life. I was going through a personal struggle and felt overwhelmed and alone. As I partook of the sacrament, I felt a sense of peace and comfort. I was reminded of the Savior's love for me and His willingness to bear my burdens. It was a powerful reminder that I am not alone and that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I can find peace and strength to overcome my challenges. In conclusion, the sacrament is a sacred ordinance that allows us to make a covenant with the Savior. By remembering Him and keeping His commandments, we can become more like Him. My personal experience with the sacrament has taught me the power of this ordinance and how it can bring peace, comfort, and strength in our lives. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this ordinance and renew my commitment to follow the Savior each week.
