During the past few weeks, you have had the opportunity to develop a plan for success as a student here at GCU and beyond graduation. Analyze your academic, spiritual, and career goals from the Topic 4 Purpose Plan and complete the following prompts directly on this document—
the boxes will expand as needed.
Part 1: Academic and Spiritual Goals
Based on your analysis, in 75-100 words total, describe what three action steps you will need to take in order to achieve your academic
goals.
1.
I am going to frequently use the academic and career excellence center to make sure that I am receiving the help that I need in order to have the highest level of academic success.
2.
I am going to make a weekly homework and exam schedule to make sure I am holding myself academically accountable. Having this layout will help me turn in work on time
and be prepared for exams. 3.
I am going to create and uphold an academic support system that includes friends and mentors in my life who can hold me academically accountable.
Based on your analysis, in 75-100 words total, describe what three action steps you will need to take in order to achieve your spiritual
goals.
1.
I am going to attend weekly bible studies, seminars, and life groups in order to create a support system with people who can provide me with a spiritual community. 2.
I am going to get involved with a local church in order to cultivate relationships not only on campus but within the community and to receive mentorship. 3.
I am going to continue to use resources that GCU provides, like Spiritual Formation
workshops, the prayer chapel, and the Spiritual Life Blog.
How well are you working towards achieving your academic and spiritual goals? Explain. What changes might you make? (50-100 words total)
1. Academic Goals – For the most part, I have been doing fairly well. However, I do tend to fall behind on homework and studying for exams. So, I am going to try to hold myself more accountable and be more prepared. In order to fully set this change into effect, I am going to utilize my academic planner and academic resources more.
2. Spiritual Goals – Right now I feel I am doing pretty good at achieving my spiritual goals. I have been getting involved with ministries, bible studies, and local churches. However, I think that I am going to take more things slower to truly take in what God is revealing to me. Describe HOW you will know you are achieving your academic and spiritual goals. (50-100 words total)
1. Academic Goals – I will know I am achieving my academic goals, by simply seeing results. If I am truly reaching my goals my grades will reflect that by having A’s and the occasional B.
I also think I will see an improvement in the way that I am learning and studying that effectively gets me those grades.
2. Spiritual Goals – I will know I am achieving my Spiritual Goals by what my life looks like. If my life looks God centered, Spirit-driven, and selfless, I will know that I am achieving my goals. If I can see that I have grown in faith, this will also reflect my spiritual goals.
