BIBLE STUDY PROJECT: APPLICATION TEMPLATE
PASSAGE: ACTS 19:11-22
What points of application can be made using the “Four Questions for Application?” State and explain 1 point of application for each of these four questions. Your explanation for each of these points should be 1 paragraph (200-300 words) in length, clearly connected to a part of this passage (by way of a verse quotation and/or citation), specific to this passage, and relevant. 1.
The Question of Duty
In the passage of Acts 19: 11 22 Paul witnessed events empowered by God. Remarkable miracles took place, where even simple items, like handkerchiefs and aprons that touched him were able to heal the sick and drive out spirits. However, when the seven sons of sceva attempted to replicate these miracles, they encountered the malevolence of the spirits. This frightening revelation led jews and greeks to turn from idolatry and towards worshiping God.
The core message emphasizes worshiping God spreading His teachings and steering clear of the darkness prevalent in the world. While we may stumble at times and give in to our weaknesses God urges us to seek him in prayer and follow his guidance. It is crucial to return
to the lords embrace and stand firm against the forces that surround us. Should we fall short we can recall Gods love. How he can perform wonders through our hearts liberating us from influences. By maintaining a connection with the lord, you can find companions who share your beliefs and potentially impact others devotion, to God on a level. In conclusion in the verses of Acts 19;11 22 Paul experienced miracles from God. When others tried to replicate them, things went awry highlighting the importance of turning towards God from darkness. The core lesson is to honor and obey God listen to His wisdom and connect with him through
prayer. The boundless love of God has the power to set us free and influence those, around us.
2- The Question of Character
Paul, due to his faith and obedience performed miracles through the guidance of God. In his writings found in the new testament, a noteworthy incident portrays God use of Paul garments, which had touched his skin to bring healing to the sick. Despite the potential for arrogance or pride, Paul remained humble. Did not boast about the events involving his clothing that were distinct from those of Jesus. The key lesson here is about embracing humility in ones character. In Colossians 3;12 14 Paul instructs the church on adorning themselves with qualities such as compassion, kindness, humility, inner strength, and self discipline attributes that are pleasing to God. Proverbs 22;4 emphasizes humility leads to

wealth, honor, and a fulfilling life. Therefore, I must cultivate and maintain humility as I progress in my journey with the Lord. The Pharisees exhibited an ability to recite scriptures from memory. He often displayed arrogance and superiority, in their actions. While knowledge indeed holds power I contend that humility should accompany it well. Jesus stands out as the embodiment of humility. Jesus as mentioned in Philippians 2; 5 8 was aware
of his connection, as God son. Choose not to assert equality with God. Instead, he embraced the role of a servant. He willingly submitted to his father's plan ultimately leading to his sacrificial death, on the cross.
3- The Question of Goals
In situations we often witness how our actions can affect the lives of others whether in an
negative light. Nowadays there seems to be a growing fascination, with living life at a pace. It's important to remember that God doesn't expect us to rush through our work prayers, building relationships or recovering from our experiences. Instead, he encourages us to take things offer prayers embrace a Christian way of life when it comes to forming families and effectively work on healing from our past in order to gain valuable insights. There's a belief that we can quickly pray and instantly find healing to the miracles performed by Paul and Jesus for the Jews. However, the essence of these stories lies in the realization that God doesn't rush our healing process. If we faithfully follow and love him, he will indeed bring about healing but not in haste. God doesn't hasten our growth. Provide responses to all our prayers. Sometimes we may find ourselves comparing our blessings with those of others and questioning why some appear to receive without effort. Yet it's crucial to recognize that this isn't always the way to interpret Gods messages conveyed through prayer; perhaps He is guiding us towards lessons. Our journey in life involves how our fellowship and dedication impact those, around us. At times our dedication brings blessings upon others while times it may take them a while before they reciprocate.
4- The Question of Discernment
In this passage, discernment is shown by the evil spirits. These evil spirits were able to discern that the Jewish exorcists did not know God, therefore were not acting within the powers of God. The Jewish exorcists were simply trying to imitate the works that Paul was doing in the name of Jesus Christ. However, Paul was working under the authority of the holy spirit. The evil spirits were familiar with Jesus and therefore able to distinguish the difference between the "powers “of the Jewish exorcists versus Gods power working through Paul. It’s important for Christians to be able to recognize and discern what is truth versus what is manipulation and greedy motivations. This could be presented to us politicians, religious leaders, teachers, influencers, and the like. Romans 12:2 describes how important it is to make sure we are studying the bible for the renewal of our minds, so that we may be able to discern the will of God. In conclusion, evil spirits were able to tell that the Jewish exorcists didn't have a connection, with God. When they tried to do what Paul did they couldn't succeed because Paul had the holy Spirit guiding him. This story highlights the importance for christians to distinguish between truth and deception stressing the value of studying the bible to understand Gods intentions (Romans 12:2).
